CHRAD’s scholarship project seeks to identify that are evidently at disadvantaged in the community access to quality primary (elementary) education that their parents / guardians couldn’t otherwise afford. We believe that this will improve their opportunities and their families’ circumstances in the longer term.

Our Leadership is extremely grateful to our team for their dedication and also for the generosity of all our well-wishers like you who continue to support us in diverse ways. Over the years and amid challenges, our organization is gradually opening up for opportunities to broaden its network to reach out to more well-wishers for support.

Granting children scholarships to pursue their career goal is undeniably a worthy cause and remain to be one of our core activities. Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”.

However, poverty and other challenges have made it completely difficult for children to access education. Children from poor economic backgrounds whose parents, even though, understand the value of education would still decide to stop their children from going to school to save scarce resources and give priority to other needs like feeding.

Our intervention is to source fund to grant support to such vulnerable children under the following categories of the award below:

Merit-based:

This category of award is based on a student’s academic, artistic, athletic or other abilities, and often factored in an applicant’s extracurricular activities and community service record. Schools shall be constantly contacted for the selection process.

Partial Award:

The partial scholarship shall be awarded to eligible candidates who have demonstrated evidence of their ability to cater to some responsibilities but are facing some challenges. Assistance in the form of supplying basic learning materials such as pen, pencil, textbook, uniform, school bag, allowance, etc.

Career-Specific Award:

This category of the scholarship award is to college or university students who plan to pursue a specific field of study tailored to their country/community’s development. Areas such as Medical related professions, Engineering of where the student intends to work in a high-need community after graduation. These scholarships have a “bond” requirement that all recipients would be required to work for community/government for a specified period or to work in rural or remote areas; otherwise, they would be required to repay the value of the support they received from the scholarship. The refund shall be used to support other children in need.

Athletic:

Awarded to students with exceptional skill in a sport, so that the student will attend the college and play the sport on a college team. Professional sports legend retired / active will from time to time contacted for mentorship and support for these young ones as a way of giving back to society whilst encouraging the recipient on their career plight.

Special Need Award

The Special Education Scholarship Grants are designed to support children with disabilities to help parents pay their school expenses in an affordable public school in their local community. Expenses include items such as (1) tuition, (2) special education, (3) related services, and (4) educational technology.

Full-Time Award

This award is intended to support children who are orphaned by the disaster; man-made or natural such as war. The civil wars in most of Sub-Saharan Africa account for the increase in street children. We see it as a moral obligation to provide an opportunity for these children to realize their full potential. Full scholarship to cover (1) tuition (2) uniform (Learning Materials (3) Allowance shall be provided.
